CSS 2017: Only 3.3% Candidates Successful In Qualifying

The Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC) has announced the result of CSS (Competitive Exams) for the year 2017 with passing percentage of 3.3%.

According to the revealed details, a total of 9391 appeared for the exams. 312 managed to pass the written exam while 310 qualified after the viva voce, resulting in a passing percentage of 3.3%.

The gender distribution is as follows:

  • Female candidates who cleared the test: 111
  • Male candidates who cleared the test: 199Top three positions were secured by male candidates. Muhammad Awais Irshad (Punjab domicile) stood first, while Adeel Akbar (Punjab domicile) and Mohammad Murtaza (Sindh urban domicile) secured second and third positions, respectively.

    The results have shown slight improvement as compared to previous year. In the previous exam, only 199 candidates (2.06pc) out of a total of 9,643 had cleared all rounds. According to a press release, 261 candidates have been recommended for appointments to posts in BS-17 out of all the qualified candidates. Among them, 155 are male while the number of females stands at 106.

    The results of CSS Exams have been facing an obvious and continuous decline since past few years. 3.33% of students passed the exams in 2014, 3.11% cleared in the year 2015 and only 2.06 qualified in the year 2016.
