WATCH: Dagestan devastated due to COVID-19, UFC Champion Khabib’s father in critical condition

Khabib's UFC rival Conor McGregor extended his wishes for the Nurmagomedov family.

UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov’s father, Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov, is critically ill after he was diagnosed with COVID-19.

Abdulmanap, who is a professional mixed martial artist, is in a medically induced coma. The news was confirmed by the fighter’s manager Ali Abdelaziz.

While speaking to ESPN, Abdelaziz said:

“I can confirm that Khabib’s father, Abdulmanap, is in a medically induced coma. For the past several days, Khabib has been in contact with the Russian president, Vladimir Putin, who has promised that Khabib’s father will receive the best medical treatment available. Khabib has asked people around the globe to stay at home and prevent the spread of coronavirus.”

Abdulmanap recently underwent heart surgery as well.



Just like his champion son, the 57-year-old Abdulmanap has a wrestling, sambo, and judo background. He has been training Khabib from a very young age. He also served as the couch of Dagestan’s Combat Sambo National Team.
Last week, Khabib’s UFC rival Conor McGregor extended his wishes for the Nurmagomedov family in a tweet and said he is praying for Abdulmanap.
31-year-old Khabib holds of the record of being the undefeated champion in the history of The UFC. The lightweight titleholder has a perfect 28-0 win streak, eight by way of knockout, and ten wins by submission.
In October 2018, McGregor submitted and lost against Khabib at the UFC 229. Recently, he defeated America’s Ultimate Fighting Champion Dustin Poirier at UFC 242.
