”I had gone through all that”, Danish Kaneria makes shockingly bold claim against Shahid Afridi
''Shoaib Akhtar had spoken the truth and I had gone through all that''.
Cricketer Shahid Afridi has been accused of mistreating Pakistan’s highest wicket-taker as a spinner, Danish Kaneria, while he was part of the team green.
Kaneria said that the former Afridi had been against him since the beginning of his career.
Previously, Shoaib Akhtar said that Kanaria’s religion was the reason the Pakistani cricket team discriminated against him.
“Shoaib Akhtar had spoken the truth, and I had gone through all that. Shahid Afridi had also been against me since the beginning. He kept me out of the one-day side,” Kaneria shared in an Instagram live session while talking to Sports Tak.
Right-arm leg spinner, known for his well-disguised googly, said that both of them used to play for the same department, but he was rarely given a chance to be on the field.
“I only played 16 ODIs in my 10-year career as I used to get only two or three matches every year”, emphasized Kaneria.
However, Afridi claimed that he could not recall any such time when he or any other teammate looked down upon Kaneria, specifically because of religion.
“Never heard or came to know of any such thing in my entire association with Danish Kaneria at any level of cricket we played together,” said Afridi.
Back in 2012, Kaneria was found guilty of his involvement in the Mervyn Westfield spot-fixing case. Following the case, The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) banned him for life.
The former Pakistani spinner played 61 Test matches for Pakistan and bagged 261 wickets at an average of 34.79.
