Daughter Of Attaullah Esakhelvi Is Making Her Mark In Hollywood
Bringing us another reason to hold our heads high, daughter of pride of Pakistan and legendary folk singer Attaullah Esakhelvi, Laraib Atta has made her way to Hollywood!
Making her first mark back in 2006 as a visual effects artist, Laraib has a long list of achievements on her name. She cast her spell on a number of blockbuster movies. She has Godzilla, X-Men: Days of Future Past Gravity, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Trader and Prince Caspian Sweeney Todd and 10, 000 BC at her name.
However, she is making way further to the top with her talent and effort. Laraib will now she is also proudly associated with Tom Cruise film – Mission: Impossible – Fallout. Laraib shared that that initially she had no idea of what VFX was but was always fascinated by how it happens in the movies.
Talking to BBC Asia in a recent interview, she said:
“Before I started the course I had no idea what VFX is, I just knew that this is magic for films, that’s all I knew’’
She said that she didn’t particularly know what she wanted to choose as a career option, but she just knew she is interested in art and technology and wants to do something in the field. Watching Toy Story actually intensified her passion for it.
“The first time I watched Toy Story that really inspired me, I was like wow, how is this done?”
She also shared that her parents had no idea what she was choosing, but they were supportive and told her to pursue her dreams. She said her goal is to get more young Pakistani girls in the field:
“Back then when I started I was the only girl in the course, the youngest and of course the only Pakistani. Now there are more women coming in this industry but it is still 70 to 80 per cent men. The goal is to get more women, young people into this line and definitely more Pakistanis.”
Laraib Atta is Pakistan’s youngest VFX artist and her first Hollywood movie was released when she was only 19.
