Dean Jones Heaps Big Praise On Umer Khan

Former Australian cricketer and current coach of the Karachi Kings, Dean Jones, has heaped big praise on Pakistan’s promising left arm spinner, Umer Khan.

The 20-year-old youngsters has been one of the most impressive young cricketers in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) for the last couple of seasons. Khan has got 20 wickets in 18 domestic T20Is he has played so far.

Talking in a YouTube video, Jones seemed pretty much impressed with Umer Khan.

“The kid is a potential superstar and he will probably be in my 15-16 players [squad] to go for the T20 World Cup,” Karachi Kings head coach said.

Pakistan domestic cricket structure has long been criticized for the lack of opportunities for young cricketers. Dean Jones also slammed the country’s first class cricket for not giving enough opportunities to Umer Khan to showcase his talent.

“We [Karachi Kings] have got a young boy Umer Khan and we know he is a sensational kid. He did not even get half the games in first-class cricket which is ridiculous stuff,” said Jones.

Furthermore, Dean Jones also didn’t seem much impressed with Pakistan’s head coach-cum-chief selector Misbahul Haq.

“I think the ideas and philosophy of Misbah and his advisers is different from me and also different to a lot of teams around the world,” he said.
