Development projects worth Rs31.44 billion approved by CDWP

Eight projects worth Rs.31.44 billion have been approved while three projects worth Rs.40.22 billion have been recommended by the Central Development Working Party (CDWP) to Ecnec for consideration.

A meeting under the supervision of Jehanzeb Khan, Planning Commission Deputy Chairman, was held in which Zafar Hasan, Secretary Planning,  and senior officials from federal and provincial governments were also present. The decisions were taken in this meeting.

CDPW approved a project related to energy named, “provision of electricity for Dhabeji SEZ project phase-1” worth Rs.3.941 billion.
Facilitation of electrification of 220 kV Dhabeji special economic zone (SEZ) grid station to provide an ultimate load of 250 MW under the appropriate supplies of the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority rules and regulations to DSEZ is the main objective of the project.

The two projects related to governance presented in the meeting were as follows:

“Khyber Pakhtunkhwa revenue mobilization and public resource management program” was the first project. It is worth Rs.2.828 billion and was approved during the meeting.

“Pakistan raises revenue project (formally called domestic resource mobilization program)” is the second project. It is worth Rs.12.480 billion and was referred to the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (Ecnec).

FBR will be supported to improve information and communication technology (ICT) infrastructure by the proposed technical assistant component. ICT equipment, tools, skills and software, customs inspections, consulting and non-consulting services for software development will be installed.

Another project approved during the meeting was a “sanitary sewerage system with a treatment plant for Gilgit city” which is related to physical planning and housing and is worth Rs.3.363 billion.

Four transport and communications related projects were also presented in the meeting. “special repair of 600 passenger coaches and 1,200 bogie wagon” worth Rs.2.720 billion was the first project and was approved while “special repair of 100 diesel-electric locomotives for improving the reliability/ availability of running locomotives” worth Rs.8 billion was the second project and was referred to Ecnec.

“Winder dam project” worth Rs.15.230 billion was referred to Ecnec for further approval as well while CDWP approved a position paper, “construction of judicial and administration complex in Mauve Area, Islamabad” worth Rs.537.873 million.

CDWP also approved two projects on  “dualization of the road from Bahawalpur-Yazman road to Chandni Chowk district, Bahawalpur” worth Rs2.793 billion and “dualization of the road from GT road to Gujarat Dinga road 1/C Gujrat flyover length 31km in district Gujarat” worth Rs7.575 billion

“Balochistan livelihood entrepreneurship program” was also approved during the meeting. It is related to devolution and area development and is worth Rs.7.900 billion.

CDWP approved two projects related to science and technology as well namely ‘establishment of a center or artificial intelligence in health science’ which are worth Rs.321.450 million.
