‘Did EhsanUllah Ehsan actually escape’?

The BBC contacted the Pakistan Army's Public Relations to respond to a claim made in the alleged audio message, but military sources refused to comment.

Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan’s (TTP) former spokesperson, Ehsanullah Ehsan, who was responsible for shooting Malala Yousafzai and carrying out the Peshawar Army school terror attack, has escaped from an Army jail in Pakistan.

In an audio message circulating on Pakistani social media, Ehsan has claimed that he had managed to escape.

Military sources refused to comment

The BBC contacted the Pakistan Army’s Public Relations to respond to a claim made in the alleged audio message, but military sources refused to comment.

Ehsanullah Ehsan shared an audio message on social media,saying that after an agreement on the 5th of February, 2017, he surrendered himself to the Pakistani intelligence agencies.

Ehsan further said in the video that he had followed the deal for three years, but was detained by security agencies, including his wife and children.

According to the source, Ehsan claimed in the video that during these three years, the Pakistani military did not fulfill its promises and violated the agreement ‘after which he decided to work on an escape plan’.

According to this two-minute-long audio message, Ehsanullah Ehsan managed to escape on the 11th of January, 2020.
