Digital Transformation: Excise and Taxation Department now capable of printing 20,000 cards in one day!

On Monday, the Punjab Chief Minister Special Monitoring Unit (SMU) took to Twitter and informed the public that the provincial Excise, Taxation, and Narcotics Control Department had purchased a new printing machine. The good news is that this new machine can now print 20,000 smart cards in a day.

In a tweet, The SMU said:
The department is now using these machines to clear the backlog of smart registration cards.
Reports state that the Excise and Taxation Department has a backlog of 1.7 million computerized number plates and 530,000 smart cards. Hopefully, the new equipment will help the department produce smart cards efficiently and resolve the issue.
It is pertinent to note that the Special Monitoring Unit is an independent, autonomous monitoring arm of the Punjab Chief Minister’s Office. The department improves service delivery across the spectrum of the Punjab Government by providing strategic insights and direction.
