Director of Karachi’s Usman Institute of Technology (UIT) murdered during ‘carjacking attempt’

Dr. Zahir Ali Syed, the Director of Karachi’s Usman Institute of Technology (UIT), was murdered by unidentified men near Khatoon-e-Pakistan Government Degree College (GDC) For Women on Friday.

 

The UIT Spokesperson, Sonia Shehzad, said that the director was returning home from the university when the bandits attempted to stop him near Khatoon-e-Pakistan GDC For Women on National Stadium Road.

“As per the initial reports, the equipped bike riders fired at him for resisting a carjacking attempt,” said Saqib Ismail Memon, the East Zone Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGP).

Memon added that a police team quickly reached the site and is gathering evidence.

“We’re also obtaining CCTV footage of the crime scene to recognize the criminals involved in this killing,” said Memon.
