Families of COVID-19 victims have been accusing doctors and hospitals of deliberately ‘labeling every sick person as the coronavirus patient.’
In a video message, the Assistant Professor of Urology at the Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation, Dr. Harris H. Qureshi, has explained the misconceptions behind classifying every sick person as a COVID-19 patient.
Misconceptions behind labeling COVID-19 patients
The Urologist said, “If a person has contracted the coronavirus, it will damage multiple organs of the patient’s body. Many corona patients have signs of heart injury, regardless of whether or not they had respiratory symptoms.”
Qureshi added, “People with pre–existing health problems are at higher risk of developing severe symptoms. If a corona patient with underlying health issues dies, then it will be recorded as COVID-19 death.”
The research, led by Dr. Zhibing Lu at Zhongnan Hospital of Wuhan University, found that 20% of patients hospitalized with Covid-19 had some evidence of heart damage.
According to American research, the virus can attack the heart, weakening its muscles and disrupting its critical rhythm. It can also damage the kidneys and nervous system, destroying taste and smell and occasionally reaching the brain.
Moreover, coronavirus creates blood clots that can kill with sudden efficiency and inflames blood vessels throughout the body.
