A member of the royal family of the United Arab Emirates, Princess Hend Al Qassimi, has taken a notice of Islamophobia on social media. She called out many posts by a user named Saurabh Upadhyay.

Upadhyay had posted tweets criticizing Muslims over the Tablighi Jamaat congregation held in March in Delhi, that led to an increase of the COVID-19 cases in India. He also circulated rumors of Muslims, ‘spitting on food’ to spread the contagious disease.

Princess Qassimi shared the screenshots of Upadhyay’s tweets and warned that those involved in bigotry and Islamophobia, will have to pay a heavy penalty and will be made to leave the UAE. Upadhyay deactivated his Twitter account after the warning.

Responding to Upadhysy’s earlier tweets, Princess Qassimi said, though the ruling family of the UAE is “friends with Indians”, his rudeness was “not welcome”.

“All workers are paid to work, no one comes for free. You make your earnings from this country, which you ridicule and your scorn will not go unnoticed,” Princess Qassimi tweeted.
