Dr. Atta-ur-Rahman To Be Given The ‘China International Science And Technology Cooperation Award’
Professor Dr. Atta-ur-Ramna, an Eminent Pakistani scientist, for his contributions in the field of Chemistry will be awarded the highest scientific award of China.
Professor Dr. Atta-ur-Ramna, an Eminent Pakistani scientist, will be awarded the highest scientific award of China for his contributions in the field of Chemistry.
Xi Jinping, Chinese President, will hand over the ‘China International Science and Technology Cooperation Award’ for 2020 to Dr. Atta-ur-Rahman at the Great Peoples Hall in Beijing on 7th January 2020.
The ‘China International Science and Technology Cooperation Award’ has been awarded to many scientists, including Noble Laureates, for their contributions to science. Other names who have been given the award include Dr. Zhores I. Alferov, who got the Nobel Prize in physics in 2000, and, Dr. Carlo Rubbia, who also won the Nobel Prize in physics back in 1984.
Dr. Atta-ur-Rahman specializes in organic chemistry. He also served as the Chairman of HEC (Higher Education Commission) from 2002 to 2008, and the Minister for Science and Technology from 2000 to 2002.
The Pakistani government has given recognition to his achievements by awarding him with Tamgha-i-Imtiaz, Sitara-i-Imtiaz, Hilal-i-Imtiaz, and Nishan-i-Imtiaz.
Dr. Atta has more than 1,250 international publications to his name and has written about 341 books. Not only this, but Malaysia and China named research centers after him as a tribute to his brilliant contributions.
