Dr. Sania Nishtar explains the criteria on which government will be distributing cash assistance for the jobless

The Special Assistant on Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety to the PM, Dr. Sania Nishtar , has outlined the process for the identification and subsequent payments to category-4 Ehsaas beneficiaries.
Dr. Nishtar explained that category-4 has been introduced to the category mix of the Emergency Cash Program for assisting 6 million jobless men and women amid the COVID-19 lockdown.

PM’s Relief Fund
Funds for the category have been originated from the PM’s COVID-19 relief fund. The beneficiaries of the category will also be paid a one-time assistance of Rs. 12, 000 each directed through The Ehsaas Emergency Cash system.
Prime Minister Imran Khan has pledged that for every rupee donated by donors, the government will contribute Rs. 4.
Earlier, the PM had launched the web-portal for soliciting applications for the category on May the 2nd. Since then, the portal (ehsaaslabour.nadra.gov.pk) has been accessible with the detailed criteria in the web-based application form.
Explaining the process for the identification of the category-4 beneficiaries, Dr. Sania Nishtar said, “The existing principles that have been applied to The Ehsaas Emergency Cash categories 1-3, will be fully deployed in the use of the PM COVID-19 donor funds for the identification of the category-4 recipients. Rule-based criteria will be followed and is available online: https://www.pass.gov.pk/.”
Dr. Sania added, “The process of identification will be non-political and free from human intervention. All payments will be made after biometric verification, and there will be full transparency in the deployment of funds.”
