While India itself has a massive entertainment industry, which garners national and international attention, its music industry is known for taking ‘inspiration’ from Pakistani songs every now and then. Many big Indian singers have taken inspiration from creators across the border and made massive hits.
Recently, Pakistan’s living legend, Hadiqa Kiani called out Kanika Kapoor for stealing her song. She wrote that this isn’t the first time something like this has happened.
“No one asked for my permission, no one has given me royalties,” she said. Kiani went on to say that the artists use her song as an easy money-making scheme. She pointed out how these companies use bots to promote music.
Hadiqa Kiani is a prolific songwriter in the Pakistani industry. She has made a name for herself, singing in Punjabi, Pashto, and Urdu. Kiani has put out many cultural classics and was given the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz for her contributions to the art. She has also made her way into acting, appearing in drama serials like Dobara and Raqeeb Se.
