A restaurant in Saudi Arabia has been offering its customers a unique experience – plates with a side of skull and blood in the company of vampires and zombies.
The diner “Shadows” caters to horror film buffs with muscular bellies, letting them savor their dishes while staff in gory outfits put on interactive performances.
One of the customers told a source, “It is located in the Boulevard entertainment district of the country’s capital Riyadh. The eatery has been opened as the Gulf country seeks to soften its image internationally. “I came here to enjoy and laugh, but the environment and the performances are terrifying.”
“I have lost my appetite,” added the 26-year-old as a waiter presented her meal on a tray with a smiling black skull.
The rise of the conservative kingdom’s de facto ruler, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, in 2017 has ushered many comprehensive reforms, with the country opening its doors to tourists in 2020. Saudi people would have to go abroad for entertainment in the past. However, a social transformation – including the opening of cinemas all over the country and mixed-gender concerts – has changed the kingdom’s dynamic.
