Education Ministry Takes Action Against Vice-Chancellor GCU
Federal Ministry of Education has taken strict action against Vice-Chancellor of the Government College University (GCU) Dr Asghar Zaidi.
The VC has been under fire for the last couple of days after he invited former Prime Minister Imran Khan for a function at the university. He has been expelled from the search committee established for federal universities.
Dr Shoaib Mir has been added as his replacement to the committee, as per a notification by the ministry. Dr Zaidi was part of the search committees of Vice Chancellors of Quaid-e-Azam University, International Islamic University and Allama Iqbal Open University.
Education Minister Rana Tanveer Hussain had warned of strict action against Vice Chancellor of GCU to prevent educational institution from being used for political purposes in the future.
FAPUASA Condemns Campaign Against Dr Asghar Zaidi
Federation of All Pakistan Universities Academic Staff Association (FAPUASA) Punjab chapter in a statement condemned the campaign against the Vice-Chancellor. In its statement, FAPUASA urged the concerned officials to deal the matter as per law instead of issuing threats on social media.
The Academic Staff Association (ASA) of GCU also expressed solidarity with the VC, expressing serious concerns over the malicious political campaign against him.
