Education Ministry announces tentative date for the reopening of schools, universities
The coronavirus situation was discussed briefly during the meeting and it was observed that things are improving every day.
After almost six months of being shut down, the government of Pakistan has finally decided to reopen schools in the first week of September. This would be done so under strict SOPs.
Reopening of schools/colleges
This decision was made after a joint consensus was reached between federal and provincial governments. It was announced in a joint press conference, with education ministers of all provinces. The session was presided over by the federal minister for education Shafqat Mahmood.
The coronavirus situation was discussed briefly during the meeting and it was observed that things are improving every day. It was then decided to open educational institutions in August’s second week or the first week of September under SOPs.
A final decision will be taken with the permission of the National Command and Operations Center (NCOC). However, at the moment, the NCOC hasn’t agreed to open educational institutions.
