Exceptional performance by KP’s model courts – Gets 40 awards by the Supreme Court

During the first quarter of the current Judicial Performance year, the child protection courts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have discarded 448 cases.

During the first quarter of the current Judicial Performance year, the child protection courts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have discarded 448 cases.

In a news conference on Saturday, the Registrar of the Peshawar High Court, Khawaja Wajihuddin, said at the start of the Performance year 2019, overall 986 cases were pending with the child protection courts in Peshawar, Mardan, and Abbottabad.

However, the number of cases decreased to 601 from 986 by the end of Nov.

The Registrar added the Supreme Court of Pakistan has given 40 awards to the judicial officers of KP on their excellent performance in model courts. He also stressed on the actions and accomplishments of the district judiciary and the Peshawar High Court.

Last year, the judgment of the Chief Justice of the Peshawar High Court, Waqar Ahmed Seth was 15.95 daily as compared to 12.31 daily before he took the charge of the office.

“Special attention was given to the protection of human rights. However, judicial autonomy and transparency were still given the top priority by the system,” said Wajihuddin.

The registrar said finance remained the major challenge as the provincial government released only 25% of the required funds.
