The coronavirus pandemic has caused increased anxiety in people around the world. The virus has been reported in more than 190 countries and territories, resulting in more than 16,000 deaths worldwide.

Farhan Asad, an ASP at Hangu police station, was an eyewitness to the funeral of a person who died from the coronavirus. He shared the story of the burial on his twitter account by stating that it was horrific and terrifying.

Asad narrated the story

“The scenes of burial were terrifying. How can one imagine a funeral, taking place without the presence of your loved ones. Practically, no one. No one around to recite the last prayers as the body was lowered to the resting place. No soft murmurs and slow sobs. It was horrific, the air filled with fear and terror. The fear of an unseen and unfelt enemy that evades every barrier; respects no border, regard no age, gender, or religion.

The coffin of the deceased, along with the unfortunate father, was shifted through an ambulance from Peshawar. It was parked at a distance, away from the mourners & they were not allowed to go beyond a specific point. The father, who was layered in protective gear, was not allowed to get off the ambulance to bid farewell and offer the funeral prayer, there were only five people other than the Imam, and they wept helplessly in pain and sorrow throughout the prayer. The burial process was itself heart-wrenching,

The Rescue officials were reluctant to touch the coffin & it was decided to pull the coffin from the ambulance with the help of ropes, but no one was willing to tie the coffin. His father volunteered. This sight was so painful, a feeble sobbing father tying the coffin of his son with all his relatives, neighbors, mourners standing there as mere spectators. That is the story of how the final goodbyes were said amidst pain and trauma. It appeared as if the tiny impalpable virus was powerful enough to annihilate them all.

Rescue officials dragged the coffin with the help of ropes from the ambulance into the grave, and the unfortunate father was later shifted to the quarantine facility.

May we never see such funerals ever in our lives, Ameen. Stay home, everyone, and save lives.”

We all share the sorrows n grief of the father n the family. May Allah bless the deceased in eternal peace, Aameen. This is also an indicator that our loved ones will depart us alone in the grave n will not share for our sins.
