Creators of two Facebook groups from Pakistan have been selected as fellows for Facebook’s first ever Community Leadership Program. Kanwal Ahmed from the known group Soul Sisters Pakistan and Nadia Patel Gangjee creator of Sheops have made it to the list. Nadia and Kanwal are among 115 community leaders selected from over a pool of 6,000 applicants from across the world. This program is focused on strengthening the leaders who are investing in building communities across the world.
The selected participants will receive special training along with fund from Facebook. Each individual will receive up to $50,000 to use for their community initiatives and to further broaden the vision of their respected groups.
The mentioned program has three main aspects:
- An educational syllabus designed for leadership development.
- Financial support for building community activities offline and providing help along with guidance from Facebook leaders, community building experts and other participants.
- For strategic technical community skills.
In case you are unfamiliar, Kanwal Ahmed is the woman behind Soul Sisters Pakistan, the first of its kind online platform that provided Pakistani women safe ambience to share their issues, talk about their stories, discuss social dynamics in the existing conservative society. The woman on the platform can network as well as seek financial, legal and psychological aid as well.
Sheops by Nadia Patel is an online platform that provides women at home a safe marketplace to start their own business and attain financial independence.
