Families of APS Peshawar attack martyrs file petition in court over Ehsanullah Ehsan’s alleged ‘escape’
The petition has been moved by a father who lost his son in the attack.
The families of 2014 Army Public School (APS) martyrs have moved Peshawar Hight Court (PHC) over the news of Ehsanullah Ehsan’s escape.
Ehsanullah Ehsan is the prime accused in the 2014 APS Peshawar suicide attacks. The incident claimed the lives of 134 innocent school children and 15 staff members.
In 2017, he surrendered before the Pakistan Army under, what they call, as “mysterious circumstances”. Ehsan now claims that he was deceived after the ‘deal’ and was forced to give out statements on television.
– The petition has been moved by a father who lost his son in the attack:
A writ petition has been moved by Advocate Fazal Khan. Fazal lost his son Sahibzada Umer Khan in the APS attack and is also the president of the APS Shuhada Forum.
The respondents of the petition include civil and military leadership as well as the federal and provincial secretaries. It read that the top leadership had said that Ehsanullah would be tried by a military court and would not be given any relaxation, but he instead was kept in a luxurious home, from where he managed to escape easily.
“..now it has come to limelight, that far from trying the terrorist, Ehsanullah Ehsan was provided with the luxurious home from which the terrorist conveniently escaped,” said the petitioner in the application.
The petitioner added that the claim has not been denied by the respondents. The application further said that despite PHC ordering it, no charge sheet was filed against Ehsan in three years, “which is tantamount to the contempt of court”.
