Ricky Ponting revealed the toughest over ever faced in international cricket was from Andrew Flintoff during the 2005 Ashes. England Cricket posted the video on Twitter of Andrew Flintoff’s extraordinary over to Ponting that eventually sent the former Australian captain back to the dressing room.

There is hardly any batsman in the world of cricket who hasn’t acknowledged Shoaib Akhtar’s pacy bowling. Even one of the greatest batsmen of all time, Ricky Ponting, also admitted that the fastest over he ever faced was from Shoaib Akhtar.

The former Australian captain also tweeted the video of Shoaib Akhtar’s fiery spell during a test match.

“This from @shoaib100mph was the fastest spell I’d ever faced and trust me Justin wasn’t backing up too far at the other end,” Ponting wrote.

  • The contest between a batsman and a genuine pacer like SA is always worth watching.
    I always admired RP as a great batsman but poor him he had to face the pace from Shoaib Akhtar.

    There was another over SA bowled to RP and on the last ball got the wicket as well. Amazing pace. Always loved it
