WATCH: Fawad Alam celebrated his century in Ertugrul’s style
"Azhar Ali gave me the idea of celebrating in Ertugrul Ghazi's style if I go on to score a century."
The Pakistani batsman, Fawad Alam, has garnered a lot of praise from fans worldwide for his impressive century against New Zealand in the first Test match. Many people were left confused with Fawad’s celebration after scoring the century.
The cricketer revealed that his celebration after the century was a scene from the famous Turkish TV serial, Dirilis Ertugrul. Alam dedicated the celebration to the middle-order batsman Azhar Ali, who gave him the idea of celebrating it this way.
He said, “Azhar Ali gave me the idea of celebrating in Ertugrul Ghazi’s style if I go on to score a century.”
Fawad added that Ali backed and encouraged him to perform well, and as soon as he crossed the hundred-run mark, Azhar’s idea came into his mind.
Fawad Alam played a splendid knock of 102 runs on 269 balls.
The acting captain Mohammad Rizwan and Fawad Alam put up a good fight on the last day of the first Test match. However, Pakistan could not save the game as New Zealand bowled them out with 4.3 overs left in the day.
