Fawad Chaudhry asked to apologise over sexist remarks about Hina Rabbani Khar
The newly sworn in federal cabinet has been the hot topic of discussion on social media. Tweets comparing the qualifications of former PTI ministers and the current cabinet members have become very common.
Former minister for information and broadcasting, and former minister for science and technology Fawad Chaudhry took the criticism a little further when he made sexist remarks about Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Hina Rabbani Khar.
The PTI leader took to his Twitter account to share an old video of the former Foreign Minister from an interview with Mehdi Hasan. The interview dates back to 2011, when Hina Rabbani Khar was the first woman and youngest Foreign Minister of Pakistan.
About her role in the new cabinet, Fawad Chaudhry tweeted: “When you appoint a low IQ women whose only claim to fame is her Berkin bags and expensive eye shades such blunders ll become a norm, hope ll get rid of this lot sooner than later.”

Chaudhry’s sexist remarks were slammed online by netizens irrespective of their political affiliations. A social media user wrote that she is a PTI supporter and defended Hina Rabbani Khar against Fawad Chaudhry’s sexist remarks.
As a PTI voter, want to say such comments are unbecoming. She is a thorough professional who’s ‘claim to fame’ has been hard work, building a successful business, raising kids & empowering others. Not liking her in power is 1 thing but ridiculing her personally is quite another.

There were also a few other PTI supporters who defended the PPP politician and asked the former minister to apologise.
As a PTI supporter, these sort of comments are uncalled for. You need to apologise!!!

That is a completely unacceptable statement, I am a PTI voter but she is one of the best Foreign ministers our county has had, have a lot of respect for her, her accessories have nothing to do with her ability to deliver, and her foreign policy needs a lot of repair

Here’s what others have to say:
Despite the fact that i am not a PPP follower, if you pay a little heed to questions being asked to @HinaRKhar and her candid responses are much better than the chewing non responsiveness or blabbering of Shah Mehmood Qureshi.

What is wrong with what she is saying. She is an intelligent woman and internationally respected. She is talking sense in the clip.
In fact the Anchor has made a mistake, it was not Gillani but Zardari who had said he did not mind drone attacks but would protest it in public.

You could've simply limited critique to her comments as you perceived them but you had to bring in her gender & trivialize her achievements by a misogynistic reference to her appearance (but IK's looks add to his statesmanship). This only shows growing desperation & pettiness. https://t.co/BZTh19AtBq

Dear @fawadchaudhry! Please stop commenting at women. These are clearly misogynistic and sexist remarks. And #Mard like you made misogyny as norm in our society. #RespectWomen https://t.co/jf90kEeqLM

Centrists & Liberals!
Remember this the next time you couldn’t overcome ur praise for this “liberal” man in PTI’s ranks just bec he says something sane on a completely inconsequential matter such as moon-sighting in Ramzan.
He is an opportunist, incorrigible liar & misogynist https://t.co/Wi0hrSLYt7
