Fawad Chaudhry vows not to resign as long as he is confident that ‘PM Khan trusts him’ [VIDEO]
Fawad came in the limelight once again after his interview with VoA.
The Federal Minister for Science and Technology, Fawad Chaudhry, believes ‘politics is not for the weak-hearted’. Thus, he vowed not to resign for as long as he was confident the Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan trusted him.
On Thursday, Fawad took to Twitter to publicly announce his decision. He said:
I will stay on as a minister until I trust the Prime Minister Imran Khan is with me. There is no question of resigning on someone else’s wish.
The ‘someone else’ Fawad referred to is the Punjab Information Minister Fayazul Hasan Chohan, who asked Fawad Chaudhry to step down when Fawad’s claims caused rifts in the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

What were these claims?
Earlier this week, in an interview with the Voice of America, Fawad disclosed the reason PTI fails to bring tabdeeli (change).
According to him, it’s because of the in-fighting amongst Asad Umar (the Federal Minister for Planning, Development, Reforms, and Special Initiatives), Jahangir Tareen (the Member Core Committee Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf & Senior Leader PTI) and Shah Mahmood Qureshi (Minister of Foreign Affairs).
Fawad Chaudhry also made another explosive revelation and said:
This political vacuum was then filled by new and non-elected people, who did not have anything to do with politics.
Fawad Chaudhry further disclosed in the interview that the PM Imran Khan had warned his ministers to perform within six months.
All these claims made by Fawad Chaudhry in a public interview drew immense criticism from his colleagues. The reports state that many ministers approached the Prime Minister and urged him to act against the Federal Minister of Science and Technology, Fawad Chaudhry.
To address the matter, a federal cabinet meeting, chaired by PM Imran Khan, was arranged. After the meeting, the Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Shibli Faraz addressed a presser and said:
Fawad Chaudhry’s interview was discussed in the cabinet meeting, and the Prime Minister said that we should maintain unity within the party.
Shibli Faraz further told the presser that PM Imran Khan had instructed all ministers and party leaders to maintain confidentiality and not discuss things that affect the party or the government publicly.
After the cabinet meeting, Prime Minister Imran Khan held separate meetings with the Minister for Water Resources Faisal Vawda, the Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, and the Minister for Planning, Development & Special Initiatives Asad Umar. In the meetings, PM Imran discussed the disorder and tension experienced during the federal cabinet meeting. Umar and Qureshi offered explanations in this regard to PM Imran Khan.
