In line with the Prime Minister (PM) and Special Assistant to the PM on Revenue’s vision, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has taken significant initiatives to facilitate taxpayers by making compliance easier.
Here are the three ways the FBR has facilitated taxpayers by creating a faceless organization using innovative technology:

Launch of Simplified Income Tax Return
In collaboration with PRAL, the FBR launched a single-page simplified Income Tax Return for SME manufacturers’ turnover of up to Rs. 50 million, which can be availed by individuals and AOPs.
Individuals can access the return facility on the Iris portal and enter primary data relating to eligible taxpayers’ business activities during the period relevant to the tax year 2020 to avail this service.

Upgradation of the Iris System
FBR has upgraded its Iris system with the help of PRAL. The new system allows immediate notification as an SMS and e-mail is sent to the taxpayer whenever any notice is issued, or any assignment is created by the tax officer. Previously, a taxpayer would have to log onto the portal to know about such notices/intimations.
The Iris upgrade makes compliance easier and smarter as taxpayers and intermediaries are timely informed about all notifications.

Launch of Maloomat-TaxRay
FBR launched the Maloomaat-TaxRay system, wherein taxpayers can access all information available with the FBR by logging through a secure mechanism. A mobile app, Tax Assan, has also been created for further facilitation in the matter as it allows taxpayers easy and immediate access to all such information.
