FIA announces its verdict in Sharmila Faruqui and Nadia Khan’s case
The cybercrime wing of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has announced its verdict in the Sharmila Faruqui and Nadia Khan’s case. Earlier in January, the politician had served an Rs50 million defamation notice to the actress for her video which featured the former’s mother.
According to the notice, Nadia Khan had uploaded a “defamatory video” on her Youtube channel in which she has “violated her mother Anisa Farooqi’s privacy and mocked her over her makeup look.” Furthermore, Sharmila had also filed a cybercrime complaint against Nadia Khan with the FIA.
In the video, the host-cum-actor had asked the politician’s mother about her make-up. Although, Nadia Khan had said that she never intended to mock Anisa Farooqi but Sharmila thought it was derogatory.

The FIA’s cybercrime wing has finally announced its verdict in the case which had attracted lots of media attention. In a tweet, head of FIA cybercrime Sindh announced that the actress has been cleared “from defamatory charges levelled against her by MPA Sharmila Faruqui.’
He explained that making videos and making them viral is crime only if the intention behind it is to harass.
Imran Riaz went on to add that his team analysed the 40 minutes long video of Nadia Khan. According to him, there was no such content in the video which proves that the actress made the video to intentionally “disrepute Sharmila’s mother.” The inquiry has been closed against Nadia Khan.
