FIA starts investigation against 60 people, arrests 19 trollers for defaming national institutes

Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested 19 trollers on basis of defamation cases against national institutions.

The FIA started an investigation against 60 trollers originally and so far, has managed to register cases against 25, meanwhile, 19 of them have been arrested.

According to reports, the agency has made significant process in the defamation case against national institutes. They have launched 17 inquiries and 9 cases were filed in Gujranwala, and most of the arrests were also made in the Gujranwala Circle. Similarly, 6 cases were registered in Faisalabad circle, 2 trolls were arrested from Lahore, and 8 inquiries were launched in Islamabad.

The cases were filed after the Ministry of Interior gave special permission to take action against the trollers for defamation campaigns against national institutions.

FIA identifies social media accounts spreading fake news

Prior to this, the FIA Cyber Crime wing discovered multiple accounts that were spreading fake news about Pakistan Army and COAS Gen. Qamar Javed Bajwa.

Investigation officers revealed that the user had been running negative social media campaigns and is a PTI activist.
