FIA takes notice following viral edited videos & pictures of Maryam Nawaz

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has swung into action against the fake videos being shared on social media.

In a statement issued by the FIA, it announced taking notice of the fake videos being spread on social media platforms. The federal agency added that it has launched an investigation into the matter.

Furthermore, FIA also warned of strict legal action, in shape of imprisonment and fines, against those found involved in making and spreading fake videos. Social media users have also been advised against sharing these videos.

It should be noted that Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML N) leader Maryam Nawaz’s doctored videos are circulating on social media.

The PML N vice president took to her social media to share that she has reported her’s edited pictures to the relevant authority and is now awaiting action.

Later, she also retweeted FIA’s tweet of taking action against the fake videos.

Moreover, for the last week or so, there has been lots of discussion on social media platforms regarding an alleged ‘deep fake’ video of former PM Imran Khan.

The former PM during an interview with actor Shaan Shahid on a private news channel accused Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) of hiring companies to make his ‘fake videos’ in order to tarnish his reputation.
