FIR registered against Imaan Mazari over ‘derogatory’ statement about General Bajwa

Imaan Mazari

The Islamabad police has registered an FIR against human rights activist and daughter of Shireen Mazari, Imaan Mazari, for her ‘derogatory’ comments about the ‘Pakistan Army and the senior leadership’.

The FIR was filed following the complaint of Colonel Humayun Iftikhar from JAC branch of Pakistan Army. According to the complaint, Imaan Mazari had made ‘derogatory’ comments about the Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa on May 21st in the premises of Islamabad High Court.

Imaan Mazari was granted interim bail by the Islamabad High Court till 9th June 2022. Advocate Zainab Janjua represented her.

It should be noted that following the arrest of her mother, Shireen Mazari, the human rights activist had blamed General Bajwa for ‘abducting’ her. Furthermore, the PTI leader had also stated that Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) was involved in her “abduction”.

The FIR against Imaan has been strongly condemned on social media by human rights activists. Ammar Ali Jan called the registration of FIR “pure madness.”
