Students’ Solidarity March: FIR Registered Against Mashal Khan’s Father, Others despite support from government ministers
Ammar Ali Jan stated that despite support from Governor Punjab and other federal ministers, they have been nominated in an FIR.
Despite the federal ministers voicing their support to the students’ solidarity march, the Punjab police has surprisingly registered FIR against the organizers and some participants of the march. The people nominated in FIR include father of Mashal Khan Shaheed, Iqbal Lala, Dr Ammar Ali Jan and Alamgir Wazir— cousin of member national assembly Ali Wazir.
Taking to his Twitter, Ammar Ali Jan stated that despite support from Governor Punjab and other federal ministers, they have been nominated in an FIR.
We have been nominated in an FIR. We met Governor who assured us of support. Ministers tweeted in our support. Protestors gathered & dispersed peacefully.
Do we even have a govt in our country? Can we trust anybody's words?
We are peaceful citizens & will remain undeterred. pic.twitter.com/KiixJt1uRj

The FIR was registered on the charges of violation of loud speaker act and sedition. Earlier, it was reported that Alamgir Wazir was picked up from Punjab University by unknown persons. Alamgir Wazir had made a fiery speech at the Students Solidarity March in Lahore.

On the other hand, the government is being severely criticized by social media users and renowned journalists. They are calling for the FIR to be withdrawn.
Here’s How Twitter Reacted:
The police must withdraw the FIRs against Ammar Ali Jan, Iqbal Lala (Mashal Khan's father) & others named in it and release #AlamgirWazir now.
By behaving this way, the state is proving that the students are correct to protest and demand their rights. #StudentSolidarityMarch

Strongly condemn registration of FIR against organisers of #StudentsSolidarityMarch. Shameful that Iqbal Lala, @ammaralijan and others have been nominated in the FIR. The status quo gets shaken whenever people organise for their rights. #RejectFIRAgainstStudentsSilidarityMarch

The fact that Iqbal Lala, Mashal Khan's father, has been nominated in the FIR should outrage each and every person in this country. If we're not even able to honour the memory of Mashal then I don't know where we are headed as country. Words fail me. https://t.co/kV81Jw80vG

State couldn't give justice to #IqbalLala for his son #MashalKhan, killed for fighting for student rights & against Uni corruption. Today State booked Iqbal Lala for SEDITION for participating in #StudentsSolidarityMarch. Lala who preached peace at Mashal's funeral @fawadchaudhry pic.twitter.com/JKcqUENwOd

And today your government shamelessly jails Iqbal Lala, Mashal Khan's father, for sedition. Why? Because the father of a lynched student marched for the safety of other students. https://t.co/v8KQr9WjdI

Federal Minister for Science and Technology, Fawad Chaudhry, had supported the Students’ Solidarity March. He had also termed the ban on student unions as anti-democratic.
I fully support Restoration of students unions, ban on students unions is anti democratic,we can always ensure that students politics must remain violence free and regulations may be introduced for smooth functioning but ban on students politics amounts to limit future politics
— Ch Fawad Hussain (@fawadchaudhry) November 29, 2019
Minister for Human Rights Shireen Mazari had also called for the restoration of student unions.
