Following Pakistan’s Humiliation at The Hands of Aussies, PM Imran Khan Turns His Focus Towards Cricket Again
One of the things Pakistanis expect to get better in the country during Imran Khan’s regime is cricket. Unfortunately, the national cricket team has performed below expectations for the last one year or so.
After the former cricketer was sworn in as the country’s Prime Minister, he made drastic changes in the Pakistan Cricket Board. Ehsan Mani was appointed as the new chairman of PCB by PM Khan and a new domestic structure was approved not so long ago. But all these changes didn’t really work out.
Now, after getting humiliated at the hands of the Aussies, the 1992 world cup winning captain is finally focused on getting the team back on track. According to Senator Faisal Javed Khan, who is a close aide of PM, Imran Khan will be closely monitoring the team’s performance from now on. He added that the government plans to fix the country’s cricket through a long-term policy.
“Appointing Azhar Ali as Test captain was not the right decision as he has failed in the past,” Faisal Javed Khan said.
Faisal Javed Khan went on to add that the recent performance in Australia was below expectations. He also termed the new domestic structure a key for Pakistan’s future.
Pakistan’s next assignment will be against the Sri Lankan Cricket team. The two teams are slated to play two test matches this month.
