Fox Sports Names Imran Khan Captain of the best T20 team that never played the format

The other two all-rounders, apart from Imran Khan, named in the XI are Ian Botham and Kapil Dev.

One of the world’s leading sports channels, Fox Sports, has revealed an all-time T20 XI comprising of legendary cricketers who couldn’t get the chance to play the T20 format of cricket.

Former Pakistan cricket team captain and current Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan, has been named the captain of the team.

“A cricket captain so inspirational he would go on to be a Prime Minister. Imran was the finest all-rounder of his generation, which is saying plenty given the calibre of his competition. With averages of 37.69 with bat and 22.81 with ball in Test cricket and 33.41 and 26.61 in ODIs, it’s hard to argue against the point. He would make this XI for his yorkers alone,” Fox Sports has written about Imran Khan.

The other former Pakistani cricketer who made the team is legendary leg-spinner, Abdul Qadir. Abdul Qadir is the only spinner included in the team.

The opening pair comprises Mark Waugh and Viv Richard. While, the great Don Bradman has been placed at number 3 followed by Sir Garfield Sobers.

The other two all-rounders, apart from Imran Khan, named in the XI are Ian Botham and Kapil Dev.

Here’s the T20 team:

Sir Viv Richards, Mark Waugh, Don Bradman, Sir Garfield Sobers, Ian Botham, Kapil Dev, Imran Khan (C), Rod Marsh (wk), Richard Hadlee, Abdul Qadir, Joel Garner

  • He is the only player in the history of cricket who did match double as a captain.
(More than ten wickets and century in a test match as a captain in 1982 against India at Faisalabad ) I was among the spectators to see hitting a massive 6 to kapil Dav on 94 for completing 100 and Pakistan won the match and series.
Khan ended the series 40 wickets and more than 200 run as captain which is again unbroken till today.
