In a first, free healthcare facilities are now being offered to Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa residents
Reports state that the Sehat Card Plus is being executed through the Health Department in the province.
Chief Minister Mahmood Khan recently took to Twitter to announce that Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) has become the first province in Pakistan to extend free healthcare facilities to its citizens. According to reports, the entire KP population will receive free healthcare facilities under the Sehat Card Plus scheme.
Explaining the scheme, Mahmood Khan said:
With tomorrow’s launch of Sehat Cards in southern districts, KP will become the first province to have universal health insurance coverage for 100 percent population.
He further stated:
The free facility is a significant achievement by the government in completing the vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan, which is to shape Pakistan into a welfare state developed on the pattern of Riyasat-e-Madina.

Details about the Sehat Card Plus
Reports state that the Sehat Card Plus is being executed through the Health Department in the province. Sources believe that this scheme will benefit more than 6.5 million families and 40 million citizens of Khyber-Pakhtunkwa. Talking about the Sehat Card, CM Mahmood informed:
The scheme has already been extended to merged districts in the first phase. The scheme would also include a kidney and liver transplant facility to benefit the deserving families at large.
As per CM KP, under the Sehat card, all the province residents will be getting free health facilities up to PKR1 million.
