With this new facility, Pakistani freelancers will be able to register a digital account in dollars and rupees.
In an exciting new development, freelancers can now have dollar accounts in Pakistan. According to reports from the Pakistan Software Export Board, a division of the Ministry of Information Technology has launched a tool called ‘Freelance Digital Account and Card,’ in collaboration with the Bank of Punjab.
With this new facility, Pakistani freelancers will be able to register a dig ital account in dollars and rupees. A member of the IT department, Syed Junaid Imam attended an event organized at a local hotel in Islamabad as a special guest. He was joined in this by the President and CEO Zafar Masood of the Bank of Punjab, a large number of well-established freelancers, and other authorities.
While speaking at the event, Imam said that with this, freelancers will be able to open accounts from the comfort of their own homes. He also highlighted the significance of the role of freelancers in the growth of the economy, and the IT sector as a whole. The country’s IT exports currently are vying for $15 billion. Commercial banks should offer facilities and banking products for IT firms and independent contractors to meet the objectives of 15 billion dollars set by the Pakistani prime minister. The IT Ministry is already playing its role in this regard.
To help IT firms and independent contractors, commercial banks have been asked to offer suitable facilities. The new tool is a good initiative as it will be beneficial for all freelancers to open digital accounts in dollars and rupees. The Ministry has admitted that specific government incentives for freelancers are lacking and there is a need to create a favorable business environment for people working in the domain. The incentives available for the IT sector can be applied to the freelance sector as well.
