French Embassy honors three Pakistani women for their unique efforts in gender equality
Alongside awards, a cash reward of €3,500, €2,500, and €2,000 was also given to the first, second, and third recipients.
The Embassy of France has hosted an award-giving ceremony to celebrate International Women’s Day, and laud three Pakistani women for their effort in the fields of gender equality and climate change.
Alongside awards, a cash reward of €3,500, €2,500, and €2,000 was also given to the first, second, and third recipients. Minister for Climate Change, Sherry Rehman also congratulated those who received the awards for setting good examples in women’s empowerment.

“Your stories are indeed inspiring for other women and we have many things to learn from you,” she said. Furthermore, the minister added that Pakistan bears the brunt of climate change on an annual basis, and we’re set to face a ‘heat wave,’ which is another repercussion of global warming.
French Embassy gives awards to promote inclusion
Ambassador Nicholas Galey remarked that the award drew attention to not just good practices, but also concrete solutions led by women.
The first winner of the prize is Humera Iqbal, a volunteer who took the step to support rural women by engaging them in agriculture and livestock in Pakistan. While receiving the award, she said that women have carefully thought about their own values, and have set a challenge to lead by example.
On the other hand, the second prize winner is Irum Fatima works for Pakistani Hoslamand Khawateen Network (PHKN) and said it was a big day for her. Fatima remarked that she has a firm belief in empowering women to play a primary role in promoting environmental sustainability.
The third prize was given to Mehreen Raza, who is running a non-profit organization named ‘SheGuard.’ She said that the organization’s goal is to ensure women’s and the earth’s health.
The recipients were shortlisted after a thorough evaluation since 23 applications in total were received, but only 3 winners were selected.
