Gallup Survey: 70% of Pakistanis believe Imran Khan-led PTI government will complete the 5-year-term

The survey also revealed some surprising developments.

Around 70% of Pakistanis believe that the PM Imran Khan-led PTI government will be able to complete its five-year term successfully.

This was unanimously agreed upon by all provinces in a survey conducted by Gallup Pakistan.

According to more details, PM Imran Khan’s performance over the last three years has slightly been favorable, but a sizeable number of people believe otherwise.

Around 48% of Pakistanis believe that the incumbent government’s performance has been favorable over the past three years, while 45% believe it was terrible.

In Punjab, most of the people were unhappy with PM Imran Khan’s government and labeled it as being bad.

Meanwhile, people from Balochistan were the most satisfied with the government, with 74% rating the authorities positively.

The country’s largest province was followed by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK), where 62% of the people rated the government positively.

Surprising developments in the survey disclosed that the public opinion had been equally split whether PM Imran Khan’s rule was better or former PM Nawaz Sharif‘s rule, with 37% each terming their leader’s rule as better.

Meanwhile, 18% believed that both of the leader’s governance had been the same.

Coming to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the majority of the people — around 69% — believe that the government’s response in controlling the coronavirus has been good.

Meanwhile, despite the rocky relations with India across the border, the emergence of the Taliban from the other side of the wall, and the frosty relations with the United States, around 58% of Pakistanis rate the government’s foreign affairs positively.

Similarly, more than half — 54% — of Pakistanis believed that the government showed good performance in helping the poor.

This may be due to the incumbent government’s Ehsaas Programme, which aims to make the South Asian country a welfare state.

However, more than half — 52% — of Pakistanis believed that the government’s handling of corruption was terrible.

Similarly, around 55% of Pakistanis held a negative view of the government’s management of the economy.
