Gates Foundation to donate $200 million for PM Khan’s “Ehsaas” program

The amount will be spent on 134 poverty alleviation projects across the country.

The foundation run by Bill and Melinda Gates will grant Pakistan an amount of $200 million for the execution of the “Ehsaas” Program in the next year, says Radio Pakistan.

On Wednesday, both the parties signed an agreement regarding the program during the meeting, which was held in New York.

The agreement came when the founder of the Microsoft foundation asked PM Imran khan to meet him in New York. PM Khan is currently in New York on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly session.

Poverty Alleviation

According to the terms and conditions, the amount will be utilized on 134 poverty alleviation projects all across Pakistan.

Moreover, Prime Minister Imran Khan on the event says that Ehsaas Program is one of the big projects of Pakistan. This program will help Pakistan to turn into a welfare state.

PM Khan further says that from day one poverty alleviation was the top priority of our government.

He further added that the program would help to attain the maintainable development objectives set under the United Nations.

In addition to that, Prime Minister Imran Khan also indicated his attentiveness to Bill Gates for the complete eradication of polio from the country.

Ehsaas Program

The government of Pakistan launched the “Ehsaas” program on 27 March to provide relief to the citizens of Pakistan. The idea behind this program is to reduce inequality, investment, and lift lagging districts.

Ehsaas Program is for the extreme poor, widows, orphans, jobless, laborers, and students from low-income backgrounds.
