How To: Get Biometric Verification of Your Bank Accounts Done Using Your Phone

To save you the hassle, banks have launched online applications for biometric verification.

  • The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has announced a deadline to get biometric verification done for bank accounts or else they will be blocked by 30th June.
  • Lack of public awareness and the added labor to travel to banks has resulted in less response.
  • Banks fear that most of the accounts will be frozen if SBP does not extend its deadline.
  • Some banks have come up with an easy alternative to verify bank accounts through mobile apps.

SBP has ordered all banks to verify account holders through biometric verification of their accounts. The deadline has been set to June 30th, with SBP stern that it will not be extended any further. However, the banks are concerned over the low response so far.

With the deadline approaching in only two days, the lack of public awareness and the long distances that people need to travel to get their biometric verification might result on most of the accounts being frozen and their operations halted.

But to save you the hassle, several banks have come up with an easy way for you to get your biometric verifications done. Rather than traveling to the branch and indulging in anything complicated, you can simply download the applications and get your verification done.

Here’s how:

All you need to do is download the app and verify fingerprints through a smartphone’s fingerprint reader. You can get your verification done without having to visit any bank branch.

The initiative was launched with the association of National Database & Registration Authority (NADRA). As the bank apps are directly connected with NADRA’s database, they verify the thumb impression in no time. Overseas Pakistanis can also use these applications and get their accounts verified.
