Get married in a scenic region in Italy and earn Rs. 391,479.58 from the government

Pakistani couples dreaming of a destination wedding near breathtaking historical monuments surrounded by exquisite culinary options must visit Italy, especially when there’s a monetary reward involved too. The pandemic has seriously affected several economies of the world dependent on tourism. Italian cities have also been struggling with keeping up with finances post-pandemic.

One Italian Region comes up with a Masterplan

An Italian region, Lazio, has come up with an extremely clever idea to reclaim its position as the top spot for weddings in 2022. The government of Lazio is offering a refund of approximately $2,000 (391,479.58 Pakistani Rupees) on wedding costs if couples get married in the region during 2022 (up to 31st of December).

While the weddings must occur before the 31st of December 2022, couples have until the end of January 2023 to submit receipts (or until the money has all been used up).
Lazio has massive tourism potential as the region is home to Rome, the iconic Coliseum, the Trevi fountain, and the Spanish steps. The coastal region also boasts medieval hillside towns, the Circeo national park, and (if the budget can afford it), the Orsini-Odescalchi castle in Bracciano where Katie Holmes married Tom Cruise in 2006. All these locations are perfect for the classic obligatory wedding photographs.

Tourism in Lazio:

Details of the Wedding Scheme

The €10 million scheme is called “Nel Lazio con amore” (From Lazio with Love) and allows people (residents and foreigners alike) to claim back the money with just five wedding receipts. According to media reports, these receipts can include payments for anything in the region like wedding photographers, cake makers, caterers, and bridal shops.

Speaking about Nel Lazio con more, Nicola Zingaretti, the president of Lazio, said:

The scheme is needed to support a sector that has suffered badly from the economic crisis. We have put the significant investment in place also with an eye on the tourism sector, with the awareness and pride of being able to boast about every part of our region, and with many locations among the most magical and fascinating in the world thanks to an unparalleled cultural heritage.”

Since the pandemic began, just 9,000 couples have gotten married in the region, compared to 15,000 in 2019. Local authorities hope the scheme will encourage couples looking to get married worldwide to choose Lazio as the iconic location. The traffic will once again make Lazio the iconic wedding destination.
