Giraffes, the world’s tallest living terrestrial animals can adapt to a variety of habitats. However, no one could have imagined giraffes living as house pets until today.

A family residing in DHA Karachi shocked everyone by keeping two giraffes as pets. Recently, videos and pictures of these pet giraffes went viral on social media.

The internet flooded with people protesting the act and asking the owners to release the giraffes in their natural habitat. Reports state that neighbors have also complained to the owners and requested them to keep the giraffes in a residential area. The Sindh Wildlife Department also intervened in the matter and asked the owners to show the license to keep giraffes in their home.

However, all the pleas and protests were of no avail.

Recently, another video has resurfaced on Twitter, where one of the giraffes is seen reconnoitering views from the house. This video outraged a massive number of Twitter users.

Some said that keeping wild animals is a blatant form of cruelty, and it needs to be stopped.

Others called out the owners and asked them to immediately release the poor animals in their natural habitat instead of confining them to a small garden.

Many people generally commented on the act and said that wealth and intelligence are inversely related.

While people on social media continue to protest the licenses that allow people to bring wild animals and confine them to small enclosures and deplorable conditions as a show of wealth and status, the poor giraffes continue to live as trophies of wealth under the care of inexperienced workers.
