[VIDEO + PICTURES + PRICING] | GM Motors introducing new 'all-electric' monster truck!
The all-electric super-truck will be available to the general public by mid to late 2022.
This week, General Motors (GM) went live to introduce the all-new and all-electric Hummer Edition-1 super-truck, a superb new vehicle that is being called \’the world\’s first all-electric super-truck\’. The old notorious gas-guzzling environment killer has now been recreated, and the latest version is clean and green but still all-powerful.
GM reports that the term \’super-truck\’ used to describe the vehicle is not an exaggeration at all. Proof of this is in the fact that the truck is powered by three electric motors that send over 1000 horsepower and a monumental 11,500 lb./ft (15,591 newton/meters) of torque to all four wheels, which is enough power to send this big heavy truck from a standstill to 100 km/h in 3 seconds flat.
The three herculean electric motors come packed with GM\’s new Ultium battery pack. Sources state that this pack has as much capacity as 200 kWh. However, we can\’t be too confident as to whether the super-truck offers the same or not as GM has not yet revealed the Hummer\’s battery pack\’s capacity.
What has the company revealed yet about the Hummer?
- The vehicle has an Ultium battery pack comprising a series of cells that can be placed vertically or horizontally, allowing the car developers to create an ideal weight distribution.
- The Edition-1 super truck will only be offered in the white exterior color and a whole host of other gadgets and features to make up for the single color option.
- The vehicle features an \’Extreme Off-Road\’ package, which includes 18-inch wheels wrapped in 35-inch Goodyear Wrangler All Territory mud-terrain tires, skid plates, rock sliders, washable underbody cameras, and an adaptive air suspension setup controlled by a computer to adapt to the road surface or situation.
- The inside of the truck boasts a modern multi-screen dash with a 13.4-inch touchscreen and a 12.3-inch gauge cluster offered as standard, which offers various comfort and safety features, along with the controls to the Hummer\’s multi-pro tailgate.
If that doesn\’t give you a visual enticing enough, get a load of the gorgeous \’Super-Truck\’ by watching the video below:
The all-electric super-truck will be available to the general public by mid to late 2022. The original vehicle is priced at $112,595. However, many affordable variants of the truck, starting at $79,000 and featuring fewer electric motors, less horsepower, and fewer features, will be launched by the beginning of 2023.
Although the vehicle is being dubbed \’the world\’s first all-electric Super-truck\’, it does have its rivals in the global market:
The Rivian R1 – said to debut in late 2020.
The Bollinger B1 – on the market for $125,000. It looks like a farmer\’s truck but can be customized to the heart\’s desire.
The Tesla Cyber Truck – might make a surprise entrance in the markets soon once regulations and complaints about the vehicle\’s design are cleared.
The Hummer does have some serious competition in the market. However, it should be noted that comparatively, the company GM is much more robust, and it has the biggest fan following because of its legacy. With the big bad monster truck\’s return, many are likely to flood the dealerships to place pre-orders. Though, only time shall determine the true fate of the all-new Hummer.
