Government colleges named after Bhutto family show 0% passing ratio in board exams
10 students enrolled in Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Degree College were registered for the exams, none of them was able to pass.
The Sindh government named four government colleges after three Bhutto family generations – Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, Benazir Bhutto, Nusrat Bhutto, and Aseefa Bhutto Zardari. However, these colleges have produced 0% result in the previous intermediate pre-engineering group’s yearly examinations, these examinations are held under BIEK (Board of Intermediate Education Karachi).
Not one student from the four colleges showed up for examination in the intermediate pre-engineering part II exams. In the year 2019, 36,173 students enrolled in 267 colleges have been registered with BIEK, this includes private and government colleges, for the intermediate pre-engineering part II annual exams. 26,359 were male students and 9,814 female candidates, out of these 625 and 136 respectively did not appear in the final examinations.
25 colleges fail to achieve the passing percentage:
After the results were announced on Thursday, 25 colleges couldn’t achieve the pass percentage of more than 80%. Total of 14,060 candidates was pass, this made the percentage of successful candidates stand at 39.70%. Out of the above-mentioned number, 848 students got an A-1 grade, 2,422 got A grade and 3,458 got B grade. Rest of the candidates passed in grades C, D and E.
As per the letter issued by BIEK on Thursday, it was found that government colleges weren’t performing too well. In the government institutes, the four colleges named after the Bhutto family had a 0% pass percentage. Not only that, but one of these four didn’t even have one student registered to BIEK for exams.
These four colleges are Nusrat Bhutto Government Degree Boys College in Lyari, Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Government Girls College in Lyari, Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Degree College in Gulshan-e-Behar, Orangi Town and lastly, Aseefa Bhutto Zardari Government Girls Degree College in Sherpao Cology, Landhi.
10 students enrolled in Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Degree College were registered for the exams, none of them was able to pass. Similarly, 20 students from Nusrat Bhutto Government Degree Boys College failed in the results. 3 students from Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Government Girls College were registered, all declared fail. Aseefa Bhutto Zardari Government Girls Degree College couldn’t get any student registered with BIEK for the intermediate pre-engineering part II exams 2019.
