To control corruption and mismanagement in media houses, the government has decided to draft an advertisement policy. Firdous Ashiq Awan on Thursday announced about introducing reforms to the Information Department (PID) to tackle this situation.

While addressing a ceremony, she said,

“The reforms in the PID and the draft advertisement policy will eventually help media employees who were facing financial hardship due to non-payment by media houses.”

She further added, “When the bills are cleared in time, the management too will be compelled to clear the salaries of their workers.”

Main Purpose:

The main purpose of the reforms in PID is automation and digestion of the system. This will reduce human interaction and control the misuse of authority by the officials in the grant of advertisement.

Moreover, the reforms will reflect PM Khan’s vision of ensuring transparency,

said Awan.

The draft of the new advertisement policy had been dispersed to all the media houses.

“We are protecting the rights of media employees in the new policy,” Awan said.

”The media needs to play a significant role in firming up national institutions, as both government and media complement each other”.

Dr. Firdous further said that she would talk to international donors to enhance the professional skills and capacity building of the media house workers.
