Government launches online passport fee app throughout the country

Under the instructions of Interior Ministry, Directorate General Immigration and Passports (DGIP) has launched the online passport fee app all across the country. Initially, the app was available only in the major cities of Pakistan. However, now it is accessible in all cities.

The Head of Prime Minister’s (PM) Strategic Reforms, Salman Sufi tweeted in this regard. He said that the Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah had inaugurated the app. Moreover, the app is now functional and the public can use it.

According to Salman, the service would help countless citizens to pay their fees without having to stand and wait in bank queues. He also revealed that many such facilities would be launched in the coming months as well.

The newly launched app is available on both Apple Store and Play Store. Other than that, people can also pay their passport fee using DGIP’s web portal, ‘PayMaster.’

Initially, the online payment facility was only available in Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Lahore and the launch was due in Lahore this month. But now the Ministry has altogether launched it throughout the country.

After the fee has been paid, the citizens would be notified through short message service (SMS). This SMS should then be shown as a proof to the passport office.

Moreover, once the procedure has started, the fee is non-refundable and non-transferrable.
