Govt of Punjab Decides To Phase Out Patwaris And Replace Them With Young And Educated “Village Officers”

Government of Punjab has decided to “Phase out” Patwaris and replace them with young and educated “Village Officers” hired through Punjab Public Service Commission. These village officers will be trained for 6 months in 6 technical modules.They will help Government in revenue collection and other land related issues. This was decided in a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Usman Buzdar.

As per the available details, the Village Officer will be appointed in Scale 14 through Punjab Public Service Commission. A training of 6 months in 6 technical modules has also been made compulsory for the Village Officer. Moreover, the government will also be providing laptops to the village officers.

Usman Buzdar further directed to make 115 land record centers in far off areas of province by December 2019. These centers will have Bank counters as well. After the completion of these centers every Tehsil of Punjab will have its own land record center. Government has also decided to take strict action against the staff of Land Record centers who delays application processing for bribe.
