As per local media, the Pakistan Tehreek-E-Insaf led federal government is likely to reduce the prices of four major pulses.

The PTI government has been under fire for the soaring prices of essential food items. Now, in a bid to provide some relief to the masses, the government is mulling over reducing the prices of Dal Chana, Dal Masoor, Dal Moong and Dal Mash.

The expected prices per kilogramme of the aforementioned pulses are Rs90, Rs120, Rs100 and Rs145, respectively.

Furthermore, the government is also planning to increase the production of these four pulses, which will eventually reduce the import bill of Rs1 billion.

30% of the locally produced pulses will be purchased by Pakistan Agricultural Storage and Services Corporation (PASSCO).

The pulses will be available at utility stores at rates lower than in the market.
