Groundbreaking: Pakistani team secures 2nd place among 15 teams competing at Huawei ICT Competition Middle East 2022

Huawei ICT Competition Middle East 2022, Huawe’s flagship longstanding competition’s winners have just been announced. The closing ceremony, which revealed the winners, took place on 22nd December in Muscat, Oman.

The Paksitani Team 1 secured second position after numerous months of national and regional competitions that took place between the region’s capable and bright young minds and the best academic institutions. The winning team from Pakistan comprised of Asad Anwer and Muhammad Ali from Mehran University of Engineering and Technology Jamshoro and Eman Yaqoob who was from Lahore College for Women University.

This year’s competition included 15 competing teams that had some brilliant young tech talents. These teams were shortlisted from more than 19,000 participants which represented 472 universities and 11 countries from Central Asia and Middle East.

The first position was secured by a team from Jordan comprising of students from Princess Sumaya University for Technology and Yarmouk University. The winners were awarded a cash prize of $20,000. The second rank was shared by the above mentioned team from Pakistan and Iraq Team 1, which included students from Ninevah University, Salahaddin University and University of Anbar.

The third prize was awarded to UAE Team which had students from Higher Colleges of Technology and others.

The top winners will be representing the Central Asia and Middle East in the global finals competition. The final would take place in Shanghai, China.

The winners received outstanding training opportuinities from professionals at Huawei and other prizes such as cash rewards along with certificates of recognition. Huawei celebrated the tutors by having the ‘Best Tutors’ award along with the women participiating in this year’s competition through the ‘Women in Tech’ award.

Other than this, 45 students who took part in the Huawei ICT Competition Middle East 2022 regional finals were also shortlisted for internship programs at Huawei in their countries.
