Hajj 2020: Ministry of Religious Affairs to pay Rs. 500,000 compensation to deceased haji

Heirs of the deceased will be compensated.

The Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony will pay Rs. 500,000 each to the heirs of pilgrims of the Government Hajj Scheme if they pass away during the hajj in Saudi Arabia.

A ministry official told news outlets that Rs. 300,000 will be paid to an ill pilgrim if they were evacuated in an emergency from Saudi Arabia without performing hajj. Meanwhile, Rs. 250,000 will be paid in case of permanent disability of more than one limb and Rs. 150,000 in case of accidental disability of one limb during Hajj in Saudi Arabia.

In 2011, Hajj Mohafiz Scheme was launched for risk management under ‘Takaful’ to compensate affected Hujjaj/nominee of the deceased Hujjaj will continue in 2020.

Members of Welfare staff will be asked to donate Rs. 500 into the scheme. This will be non-refundable. Hujjaj/welfare staff will be compensated against the losses as well.
