Pakistan’s Haris Rauf is enjoying life in the Big Bash League (BBL) as he introduced a unique ‘COVID-safe’ celebration in cricket. When it comes to celebrations, cricketers are a little behind as compared to footballers, who have their own unique celebrations. For instance, Cristiano Ronaldo’s “Siuuu” or Lionel Messi pointing skywards, dedicating his goal to his late grandmother.
Although, the likes of Brett Lee and Imran Tahir introduced their unique celebrations but as they say modern problems require modern solutions. Owing to the surge in Covid-19 cases in BBL, some teams and players have been restricted from celebrating in the traditional ways.
Haris Rauf couldn’t just walk back to his bowling mark after taking another BBL wicket. He dismissed Perth Scorchers opener Kurtis Patterson in the third over and what followed was unique and hilarious.
Rauf acted as if he is sanitising his hands, pulled out a mask from his pocket and put it on. “That’s a celebration I have never seen before,” said the on-air commentator.
